Actually, it shouldn’t be any surprise that everyone suddenly wants a perfect brow. The bigger surprise is that it’s taken this long for the average woman to realize how important brows are to the overall appearance of their face. The eyebrow is like a frame for the eyes, and it is essential to the way we show expression and emotion. The right sculpted shape can make a woman appear younger, more alluring, awake and even happier. Misshapen, messy, patchy or overly plucked brows can make a woman appear older, tired, angry or just downright strange.

Tips for Shaping a Perfect Brow
Don’t overpluck!
If you are young and have thick, bushy brows, be thankful! Many women who plucked too much in their younger years would be thrilled to have your “problem.” Full brows are on trend anyway, and if you pluck to often, after a while, those hairs don’t grow back. So err on the side of plucking less and only removing the hairs you absolutely need to in order to shape your brows.
Mark the inner and outer edges.
The inner edge of each brow should line up vertically with the inner corner of the eye. For the outer corner, take a pencil or straightedge and line it up with the outer edge of the nostril to the outer corner of your eye. Where it extends to meet your eyebrow is the point where the eyebrow should naturally end. Mark this with a bit of brow or eyeliner pencil.
Choose your shape.
The arch that you choose will depend on your natural brow shape and what looks best with your face shape. You will want to arch it slightly off-center of the brow, towards the outer corner and taper towards the end. Be careful of over-arching your brow to avoid looking fake or extreme. If the outer end of your brow tends to droop lower than the inner, this is an area you will want to pluck a bit to raise it up and give your eyes a lift.
Before you start plucking, an easy way to try out brow shapes to see how they will look is to apply a layer of foundation and powder right over your eyebrows to hide them. Then draw in your new brow shape with an eyebrow pencil or powder to see how they would look. Try an arched look on one side versus a softly rounded brow on the other side and compare. Modify and re-draw as needed until you achieve your perfect brow shape.
Go slow.
Once you have determined your best shape, use a brow brush to brush the hairs upwards and out, wetting them down a bit if need be to get them under control. Then grab a pair of sharp, quality tweezers and begin to pluck the stray hairs. Start with the ones most outside your chosen shape and work your way in. Stop from time to time and check your progress. If in doubt, stop and don’t pluck any more. You can always go back and pluck a few stray hairs, but if you go too far, you’ll have to wait for them to grow back.
Fill in with color.
If you have really nice, full brows, you may not need to use any products to create extra fullness, but most women can create more attractive brows by filling them in a bit with some color. Whether you use a pencil, powder or tinted gel, be sure to use strokes in the direction of the hairs to look most natural. Finish off with a bit of clear brow gel to smooth and nourish, creating healthier brows over time.
